Breast Uplift – Mastopexy
Breast uplift surgery is a procedure aimed at raising and reshaping sagging breasts to a more youthful and perky appearance.
Over time, factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, ageing, and gravity can take their toll on the breast’s natural elasticity, leading to a change in shape and position. Consultant Plastic Surgeon Anca Breahna, utilising her expertise in cosmetic breast surgery, offers mastopexy to address these concerns, restoring confidence and comfort in one’s body. This surgery not only elevates the position of the breasts but can also involve resizing the areola to keep them in proportion with the newly lifted breasts.

Who Needs Breast Uplift Surgery
Breast uplift surgery is ideal for patients experiencing breast sagging (ptosis) who wish to restore a more youthful and lifted appearance to their breasts. Candidates for this procedure usually share several characteristics or experiences:
- Natural Ageing: Over time, the skin loses elasticity, leading to sagging. Those looking to counteract this natural ageing process are excellent candidates.
- Post-Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Changes: Pregnancy and breastfeeding can significantly alter breast shape and volume. Mastopexy can help restore the pre-pregnancy appearance of the breasts.
- Weight Fluctuations: Significant weight loss can leave the breasts looking deflated and saggy. An uplift can rejuvenate their appearance.
- Desire for Improved Breast Contour Without Enlargement: Patients who are satisfied with their breast size but not the sagging can benefit from a lift, without the need for implants.
Anca evaluates your specific needs, medical history, and desired outcomes to determine suitability for breast uplift surgery, ensuring it aligns with your aesthetic goals and lifestyle.
Benefits of Breast Uplift Surgery
Breast uplift surgery offers many benefits, significantly impacting both physical appearance and psychological well-being. Anca highlights these advantages during consultations, helping you understand the positive changes you can expect:
- Enhanced Breast Shape and Position: The primary benefit is the more youthful and lifted appearance of the breasts. This procedure corrects sagging, improves the position of the nipples and areolas, and can also adjust their size for better proportionality.
- Increased Clothing Options and Comfort: Many women find that clothes fit better post-surgery, allowing for a wider range of fashion choices, including styles that were previously unsuitable due to the shape or size of their breasts.
- Improved Body Image and Confidence: Restoring the breasts to a more youthful state can significantly boost self-esteem and body confidence, impacting various aspects of personal and social life.
- Physical Relief: Although primarily cosmetic, the uplift can alleviate some discomforts associated with excessively saggy breasts, such as skin irritation beneath the breast fold.
- Long-lasting Results: While no surgical procedure can halt the ageing process, the outcomes of a breast uplift are long-lasting. You can maintain results with a healthy lifestyle and proper support.

Types of Breast Uplift
Crescent Lift
Least invasive, the crescent lift involves a small incision running halfway around the top edge of the areola. It’s suitable for patients who require a minimal lift and is often combined with breast augmentation.
Peri-Areolar or “Donut” Lift
This method involves a circular incision around the areola, ideal for women with mild sagging. It can also be used to reduce areola size and is often paired with breast augmentation.
Vertical or “Lollipop” Lift
For moderate sagging and larger areola reduction, this technique involves two incisions: one around the areola and another running vertically from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease, creating a lollipop shape.
Inverted T or “Anchor” Lift
Used for significant sagging and reshaping, this approach adds a third incision along the breast crease, resembling an anchor. It offers the most dramatic transformation for those requiring extensive reshaping.
How Is the Procedure Performed
The breast uplift procedure is planned and executed by Anca to ensure optimal results and patient satisfaction. Here are more details about how it’s performed:
- Consultation and Planning: Anca begins with a thorough consultation, discussing your goals, preferences, and medical history. She also conducts a physical examination to determine the best uplift technique.
- Anaesthesia: Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
- Making the Incisions: Depending on the chosen technique, Anca makes the incisions as discreetly as possible, aiming to minimise visible scarring.
- Reshaping the Breasts: Excess skin is removed, and breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to achieve a firmer, more youthful appearance. The nipples and areolas may be repositioned or resized to complement the new breast shape.
- Closing the Incisions: Anca uses advanced suturing techniques to close the incisions, reducing scar visibility and promoting healing.
- Recovery: You are moved to a recovery area and closely monitored. Detailed aftercare instructions are provided to support the healing process.
Each step is carried out with precision and care, emphasising safety, aesthetics, and your overall well-being.
Recovery and Aftercare
Recovery and aftercare are critical components of the breast uplift process, with Anca providing comprehensive guidance to ensure a smooth and comfortable healing period:
- Immediate Post-Operative Care: After surgery, you may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with medications prescribed by Anca. A support bra or compression garment is often recommended to support the breasts as they heal.
- Follow-Up Visits: Anca schedules follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process, remove sutures if necessary, and address any concerns. These visits are vital to ensuring a smooth recovery and optimal results.
- Activity Restrictions: Patients are advised to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for a specified period, usually 4-6 weeks, to prevent complications and allow the body to heal properly.
- Long-Term Care: To maintain the results of the uplift, wearing supportive bras, especially during exercise, and maintaining a stable weight are recommended. Proper skincare, including sun protection, can help minimise scarring.
Reviews
Patient satisfaction is the top priority for Anca. You can find how patients feel about her work below. After my first consultation with Anca I came away feeling 100% confident she was the surgeon I wanted to undertake my breast surgery. Right from the start Anca was friendly, professional and punctual, but more importantly she was realistic about my expectations. Anca gave me several chances to discuss and question the procedure, and ever put me under any pressure to go ahead. She was willing to spend time with me looking at before and after pictures. My op went ahead. All went well. She visited me twice during my overnight stay at the Grosvenor, Chester. The nurses spoke very highly of her as a surgeon. Unfortunately 2-3 wks post op I developed an infection due to my body rejecting the sutures. I’ve since been back to Chester every Monday, for the last 5 weeks, to see Anca and she has seen me in person every time to assess and dress the wound. She has made me feel very comfortable to contact her at any time if I have any worries. I’m now well on the mend and I love what Anca has helped me to achieve. Her aftercare is amazing!
You certainly couldn’t go wrong choosing Anca Breahna as your surgeon!
Thank you Anca

TUMMY TUCK, BREAST REDUCTION/ UPLIFT AND LIPOSUCTION Dr Breahna is a BRILLIANT cosmetic surgeon!!! I felt completely reassured, comfortable and more importantly safe in her care during two surgeries; tummy tuck in Feb’ 23 and breast reduction/ uplift and liposuction in Nov’ 23. She is very professional and has lovely calm demeanour; she went into every detail explaining what to expect from my surgery from start to finish which made me feel reassured I was in safe hands. I’m 59 years of age and as we all know, with age, everything heads ‘South’, droopy boobs, tummy etc.. and I had an always hated my tummy as I had an overhang/ apron from having my son, some 30yrs ago. This has always bothered me as nothing ever fitted properly and I had to always wear larger sizes and oversized tops to cover the apron and now with my ‘very nice’ as my hubby would say new boobs, I can now get into Primary size S clothing which I’m absolutely delighted with, as I’ve gone down two dress sizes. I now love how I look and feel. Honestly the results are amazing. I’m going back for more surgery. Thank you again Dr Breahna xx
Breast augmentation. Very professional service. Miss Breahna took her time to explain every step and I felt, at all times in very good hands. Every stage has been outstanding including post surgery care and follow ups. Her attention to detail is outstanding and I am more than happy with the results. Perfect in every way! Contact with Miss Breahna is always effortless, with prompt responses for any questions or queries both pre and post surgery.
My husband found Miss Breahna on an internet search, I was slightly nervous, as I was always told to have someone recommended. However from the first appointment, to now, 6 weeks post op. I believe everything happens for a reason. Anca, is so thorough, and knowledgeable I have crohns, and AS, and struggle with fluctuating weight. This was something I thought would be a barrier. But with Anca’s expertises it was nothing. I have had a breast uplift, liopsuction, and fat transfer meaning my breasts now have shape, they are no bigger, but are the correct shape, and I haven’t needed to have an implant either. I felt that Anca, never even thought about money, she just wanted the best for you, in that sense, she offered 2-3 pre consultations, the aftercare has been amazing, excellent communication, and I even wanted another procedure, of which she has recommended waiting for (many other consultants would have gone ahead regardless for the money I feel). I honestly couldn’t be happier, and can’t wait to have the next procedure. I wholeheartedly have full faith and trust in Anca. I would also like to say thank you to Claire, Anca’s PA who made the communication seamless, and looking after my little ones to enable me to have a consultation.
From day 1, I knew Miss Breahna was a surgeon I could trust. I received the utmost care and attention before, during and after the procedure. She made certain that I was aware of all the risks and managed my expectations in a professional manner. A talented surgeon with a personal touch, Miss Breahna ensured I was well looked after the entire time. I’m delighted with the results – my new breasts look super natural and have given me the boost in confidence I needed after having 3 children. It’s only been a few months and my scarring is barely visible. Thank you Anca, 5 stars from me all the way!
From the beginning, Ms Breahna has treated me with the upmost care and consideration, with a gentle and professional manner in all aspects of the process. Ms Breahna’s expertise was invaluable when considering between breast augmentation and a mastopexy augmentation, with the most appropriate implant size and shape. Saying I am happy with the results is an understatement as I couldn’t have imagined my breasts to be as perfect as they are, with incredibly neat scars and, personally, no complications. I have thoroughly enjoyed the process due to Ms Breahna’s kind nature making me feel so at ease throughout, with unfathomable attention to detail and care. Thank you!
