Breast Uplift – Mastopexy

Breast Uplift – Mastopexy

A breast uplift can alter breast shape. There are many causes for drooping of the breasts, such as: ageing, weight loss, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Breast uplift, or Mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that improves the shape of the breasts by tightening the skin envelope and lifting the nipple position. Breast enlargement with implants can sometimes be done at the same time to give you a larger cup size (Mastopexy-Augmentation).

The type of surgery that suits you best is a decision that you will make together with Miss Breahna following your consultation. Once you have had time to consider the different options, it is normal to have a second appointment with Miss Breahna when you may want to ask any additional questions.

Breast Uplift Procedure

The breast uplift is carried out under general anaesthetic. An incision is made around the outside of the nipple and another running in a vertical line running from under the nipple. Miss Breahna will then cut away the excess skin, re-shape the breast tissue and re-position the nipple, before closing up the wounds.

After your breast uplift surgery you should expect an overnight stay. You will need to take it easy for around 2 weeks after the operation, when you will be able to return to work and driving, dependent on medical advice and follow-up consultation. Further follow-up consultations will be arranged at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year post surgery, to closely monitor your physical well-being.

The results of the breast uplift will continue to improve over the next 6 months, as scarring fades and breasts resume a more natural shape and appearance.

Frequently asked questions

The best candidates for a Breast Lift are women who have breasts that have lost volume and are sagging due to weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding and / or natural ageing. It is important that you are in good health, do not have any medical conditions that can impede wound healing and do not smoke.

breast uplift treatment is a surgical procedure and will therefore incur a level of pain. The operation itself will take place under general anaesthetic and you will receive a course of post-operative pain relief upon being discharged. Tenderness as a result of this procedure can be managed more effectively if aftercare advice is followed carefully.

Any surgery carries a degree of risk, all of which will be discussed at your pre-operative assessment. Frequent risks incurred include: swelling, tenderness and bruising, change in nipple sensation and temporary numbness. Infrequent complications are infection, delayed wound healing, bleeding (haematoma), nipple loss, asymmetry and poor scarring.

breast uplift procedure may incur a period of 2 weeks recovery from to allow for successful healing, and time off work may be required. Driving will be possible after 2 weeks. It may take up to 3 weeks before travelling abroad and 6 weeks before returning to the gym.
