Who Needs Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is sought after by women for various reasons, ranging from physical discomfort to psychological distress related to the appearance of their labia. Anca understands the sensitivity of these issues and approaches each case with empathy and professionalism. You might consider labiaplasty if you experience:

  • Physical Discomfort or Pain: Activities such as cycling, running, or even sitting for extended periods can cause discomfort if the labia are enlarged or elongated. Labiaplasty can alleviate these symptoms by creating a more compact labial structure.
  • Difficulties with Intimacy: Excess labial tissue can sometimes cause pain during sexual activities, leading to anxiety and decreased sexual satisfaction. Reshaping the labia can help restore comfort and confidence.
  • Hygiene Issues: Large or irregularly shaped labia may trap moisture and lead to recurrent infections. Reducing the size of the labia can improve hygiene and reduce the risk of these issues.
  • Self-consciousness: Feeling self-conscious about the appearance of the labia can impact self-esteem and body image. Labiaplasty offers a solution to those who seek a more traditional aesthetic appearance, leading to enhanced confidence and well-being.

Anca’s extensive experience and understanding of the female anatomy allow her to offer guidance and support, ensuring that labiaplasty is tailored to meet your individual needs and expectations.

Benefits of Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty offers a range of benefits that contribute significantly to your quality of life and psychological well-being. Anca’s meticulous approach ensures that these benefits are maximised for each patient:

  • Improved Comfort: By addressing the size and shape of the labia, labiaplasty can eliminate the physical discomfort associated with elongated or enlarged labia, making everyday activities and physical exercise more comfortable.
  • Enhanced Aesthetic Appearance: Many women seek labiaplasty for aesthetic reasons, desiring a more symmetrical or traditionally appealing genital appearance. Anca’s expertise ensures that the results are natural-looking, with attention to maintaining the integrity and sensitivity of the labial tissue.
  • Increased Sexual Confidence and Pleasure: Reducing excess tissue can alleviate pain during intercourse, making sexual activity more enjoyable. Additionally, the increased confidence in the appearance of the genital area can lead to improved sexual relationships and satisfaction.
  • Improved Hygiene: Smaller and more proportionate labia are easier to clean, reducing the risk of infections and contributing to better overall genital health.
  • Psychological Well-being: For many, the psychological impact of feeling uncomfortable or unhappy with the appearance of their labia cannot be overstated. Labiaplasty can offer a significant boost in self-esteem and body confidence, positively affecting mental health.

Anca is committed to ensuring that the benefits of labiaplasty extend beyond the physical, supporting your journey towards improved self-confidence and quality of life.

Before & After

has made for our clients

Types of Labiaplasty Surgery

Trim Labiaplasty

This is the most common technique, involving the trimming of excess tissue from the edges of the labia minora to reduce their size and achieve a more balanced appearance with the labia majora. The trim method is often preferred for its straightforwardness and the ability to remove darkened or irregular edges of the labia minora.

Wedge Labiaplasty

A wedge of tissue is removed from the middle of the labia minora, preserving the natural border. This technique is chosen to maintain the original contour of the labia while decreasing its overall size. It’s particularly beneficial for those looking to reduce bulkiness without altering the natural rim of the labia.

Central De-Epithelialisation Labiaplasty

This less common technique involves removing a strip of tissue from the central part of the labia minora without affecting the edges. It’s suitable for women who wish to retain the natural edge of the labia minora while reducing its volume.

Labia Majora Reduction

For those concerned with the size of the labia majora, this procedure involves the removal of excess skin and fat, which can be done through surgical excision or liposuction.

How Is the Procedure Performed

Labiaplasty by Anca is performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure. The choice of anaesthesia will be based on the complexity of the surgery, your preferences and Anca’s recommendation. The procedure usually takes about one to two hours to complete, depending on the technique used and whether additional procedures are being performed simultaneously.

  • Preparation: Before the surgery, Anca will mark the areas of the labia to be reduced or reshaped, based on the pre-operative discussion and planning.
  • Surgical Technique: Depending on the chosen method (trim, wedge, or central de-epithelialisation), Anca will carefully remove the excess tissue and reshape the labia. The incisions are made with precision to minimise scarring and preserve the natural texture and pigmentation of the labial edges.
  • Closure: The incisions are closed with fine, dissolvable stitches that will naturally be absorbed by your body over time, eliminating the need for suture removal.
  • Post-operative Care: Immediately after the surgery, you’ll be taken to a recovery area where you’ll be closely monitored until you’re ready to be discharged. Anca will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery.

This meticulously tailored approach ensures that the results are both aesthetically pleasing and functional, significantly improving your quality of life and self-confidence.

Labiaplasty can be classified into different types, each designed to address specific concerns and achieve desired results. Anca is proficient in all these variations, guiding you through the options to select the most suitable approach: Trim Labiaplasty, Wedge Labiaplasty, Central De-Epithelialisation Labiaplasty, or  Labia Majora Reduction.

Anca will discuss these options with you, taking into account your physical anatomy, aesthetic goals, and any functional concerns to recommend the most appropriate type of labiaplasty.

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery from labiaplasty is generally smooth, with Anca providing complete aftercare instructions to ensure the best possible outcome. Here’s what you can expect during the recovery process:

  • Immediate Post-Operative Period: You may experience swelling and discomfort in the treated area for the first few days. Anca will prescribe pain relief to manage any discomfort, and you’ll be advised to apply cold packs to reduce swelling.
  • Rest and Recovery: It’s essential to take it easy for the first week after surgery. Avoid strenuous activities and any form of exercise for at least 4-6 weeks. Anca will guide you on when it’s safe to resume various activities.
  • Hygiene: Keeping the area clean is crucial. You’ll be given specific instructions on how to gently clean the area and advised to wear loose, comfortable clothing to prevent irritation.
  • Follow-Up Appointments: Anca will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing progress, remove any non-dissolvable sutures if used, and address any concerns you may have.
  • Sexual Activity: It’s recommended to abstain from sexual activity and the use of tampons for approximately 4-6 weeks post-surgery, allowing the tissues to heal properly.
  • Long-Term Care: Although the results of labiaplasty are permanent, it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow good hygiene practices to support long-term satisfaction with your results.

How Much Is Labiaplasty in the UK

The cost of labiaplasty in the UK can vary widely based on several factors, including the complexity of the procedure, the technique used, and the surgeon’s experience. Anca is renowned for her expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery, offering personalised care that reflects the quality and safety standards expected in the UK.

On average, labiaplasty costs can range from £3,000 to £6,000. This investment typically covers the initial consultation, the surgery itself, anaesthesia fees, any necessary medical tests, and follow-up care. It’s important to consider that while the cost is a significant factor, the surgeon’s experience, the quality of care, and the safety of the procedure should be prioritised in your decision-making process.

Anca is committed to transparency and will discuss all costs associated with your labiaplasty during your consultation. This discussion will also include information about financing options or payment plans if they are available, ensuring that you have a clear understanding of the financial aspects of your surgery.
