What is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is used to reduce the size of the labia minora or reshape this area – the smaller inner lips of the vagina (vulva).
Typically, two reasons for this surgery exist.
The first is for comfort, whether through genetics, ageing, childbirth or other, an enlarged labia can be uncomfortable. This can be all the time, or when certain activities are undertaken such as cycling or horse riding.
Sport can often be uncomfortable, so exercise and intimate relationships may be negatively impacted.
The second reason is for aesthetic change. No such thing as a perfect labia exists, nor one that requires treating for aesthetic concern, but many find the size or shape can impact self esteem and confidence.Â
As with any other physical concern, the impact on mental health can be large and negative.
Labiaplasty surgery can tighten and reduce the size of the labia, creating the desired appearance.
Patient Suitability for Labiaplasty
In a webpage it is impossible to ascertain any prospective patient’s suitability.
Instead, a detailed consultation with a leading surgeon is required. The consultation is obligation-free – it is your chance to outline your concerns, your hopes for any surgery and for the surgeon to listen and then offer their honest advice.
In broad terms, those who have concerns about the appearance of their labia, or have comfort issues are likely to be a suitable candidate.
Your full medical history would always be taken into full consideration and surgery would only be recommended with your ongoing welfare taken into full consideration.
Procedure
The labiaplasty will be performed under general anaesthetic. The agreed change would have been outlined in consultation and this change would then be made in line with this consultation.
The technique would actually vary by patient and the nature of the change to the labia. Instead, it is of more use to point out that Miss Breahna has a wide range of techniques at her disposal and will always choose the correct one for each individual surgery.
Two options are the straight line reduction of the redundant tissue or the V-shape cut to reduce the overall length of the labia.

Recovery
In a typical recovery the patient can:

- Have Little downtime as light activities can be undertaken after 48 hours
- Manage any minimal pain by mild painkillers
- shower 72 hours post surgery
- See that Swelling peaks within 2-3 days and rapid recedes in following weeks
- Driving within two weeks
- Return to Sexual intercourse within 4 weeks
Are there risks?
This treatment will cause moderate swelling and bruising, that will ease within a few days. There is also a risk of infection and bleeding, but this is rare.
The patient satisfaction with labiaplasty is extremely high, it is a surgery that delivers the changes sought at consultation.
