Anca Breahna Plastic Surgeon

Eyelid Surgery Liverpool

Eyelid surgery is available in Liverpool through Anca Breahna, a renowned surgeon with a stunning CV and decades of experience.

Also known as blepharoplasty surgery, eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift makes a profound difference and yet it is a relatively straightforward procedure to an experienced surgeon.

The surgery improves the aesthetics of the eye region, but it can also have a benefit to vision in cases where the eyelid is impacting vision, perhaps blocking it to some extent.

In this page, we will outline key details about eyelid surgery and also why Anca Breahna stands apart among the many fine surgeons operating in and around Liverpool.

What is eyelid surgery?

This surgery – which you may also see listed as blepharoplasty or eye bag surgery is used to address sagging eyelids.

The procedures can be performed on the lower or upper eyelids, or both, to address sagging eyelids though it will usually be a more involved operation to treat the lower eyelid. For treating the lower eyelid, a general anaesthetic will more commonly be used.

As with many procedures, there is no single technique, no one-size-fits-all. Everyone is different after all, and so too are their eyelids.

The skill of the practitioner lies in choosing the best technique in each instance – best for results and also for expedited recovery.

The surgery will counteract a very visible, but natural sign of ageing – drooping eyelids. These can leave us looking older, sadder and generally not as refreshed and ready to go as we might like.

In turn, this physical concern can greatly impact self-confidence and self-esteem.

The wonderful truth with a procedure such as eyelid surgery is that it is a simple operation that can do so much good, in many cases improving a person’s whole outlook and greatly increasing both their confidence and their self-esteem.

Who Is a Blepharoplasty in Liverpool Suitable For?

The surgery is suitable for those whereby sagging eyelids are impacting vision. Anyone for whom this is the case will get a very real and instant benefit – how wonderful that sight will be improved from a simple procedure.

For others, it is suitable when the impact of sagging eyelids is negatively affecting your life.

Some will have eyelids that droop and it will not concern them in the slightest. There may be little point in this case seeking surgery.

However, for so many of us, the signs of ageing eat away at our confidence and so taking steps to remedy this is of great value. This is not a huge cosmetic change, it is subtle improvement to appearance that has great impact on how we feel.

Anca Breahna’s skill lies in producing results that have the impact a prospective patient seeks and yet look completely natural. Eyelid surgery will leave you looking that bit younger, more energised and refreshed but, importantly, you will still look yourself. There is not that very obvious look of ‘work having been done’.

Eyelid Surgery Procedures Liverpool

There are two distinct forms of the surgery – upper blepharoplasty and lower blepharoplasty.

Upper eyelid surgery can be performed under local anaesthetic as a day case. It is a relatively simple procedure whereby an incision is made in the crease above the eyelashes and excess skin then removed from the upper eyelid.

The fat deposits are repositioned and the muscle tightened.

Surgeon skill is key to achieving the best results, this must factor in how the eyelid will settle down post treatment and how it will look once swelling has subsided. Only experience and surgeon skill can accurately predict this.

Lower blepharoplasty surgery is usually performed under general anaesthetic.

An incision will be made below the lash line, skin lifted from the lower lid and fat removed or redistributed. Skin will then re-draped and the excess removed, tightening of the lower eyelid may also be required, this called a canthopexy.

This, however, is to jump forward as the process really begins with a detailed consultation.

This is the opportunity for the prospective patient to talk through their aims for the surgery and the expert to suggest a course of best action.

In some instances, it may be that full cosmetic surgery is not in the patient’s best interests or required at this stage.

Recovery Post Eyelid Surgery

Post blepharoplasty, some swelling will be visible and the patient will be advised to sleep on their back initially.

Some also find the short-term wearing of sunglasses beneficial to help rescue sensitivity to light.

It will take a couple of months for final results to be fully visible and established.

The most common side effects post-surgery are bruising and swelling. As with all surgery, there are infrequent risks of infection and abnormal scarring – among other complications – but blepharoplasty is considered a safe procedure with an excellent safety record.

About Liverpool

It is not an over-exaggeration to say that Liverpool is one of the world’s great cities.

Just look at its cultural importance.

The Beatles alone are enough to make this a very special city, they of course made their name at the city’s Cavern Club, then you have great rivals Liverpool FC and Everton, the Premier League trophy currently proudly on display at Anfield.

The city itself is a metropolitan borough in Merseyside with a population of just short of 500,000.

Going back a few years, the city was referred to as Lifer in old English, this meaning thick or muddy water, by 1190 the name had become Liuerpul. The adjective Liverpudlian is believed to have first been used in 1833.

One famous location in Liverpool is the Pier Head, a trio of buildings comprising the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building, these are collectively known as the Three Graces.

The wonderful Museum of Liverpool is also a popular tourist destination, helping to make Liverpool the sixth most visited city in the UK.

We couldn’t possibly list all famous Liverpudlians, a few notable names are John Lennon, Cilla Black, Beryl Bainbridge, John Bishop and Kim Cattrall.
