What causes excess skin on the thighs?

There are a variety of causes, including the following;

The ageing process

Many patients consult Anca Breahna because they have developed excess skin as part of the natural ageing process. The skin loses elasticity, especially after menopause. The result can be loose, crepey skin on any part of the body, including the inner thigh.

Liposuction

Sometimes loose skin can appear after excess fat has been removed with liposuction. A thigh lift could be the final step in restoring a more youthful appearance to your upper legs.

Weight loss

A common cause of baggy skin is significant weight loss. It can be disappointing to work hard to lose weight only to be left with the problem of sagging, over-stretched thigh skin.

Whatever the cause of your loose skin, Anca Breahna can dramatically improve the appearance of your thighs with a thigh lift.

Am I a good candidate for an inner thigh lift?

If you want to improve the appearance of your thighs, then you may be a good candidate for thigh lift surgery.

Miss Breahna will have a consultation with you to discuss your suitability for surgery. She always ensures that her patients have realistic expectations of surgery and is careful to fully explain what she can achieve for you.

Your general health is a consideration before any surgery. Patients need to know that this type of plastic surgery is not a weight loss technique. The best thigh lift results are achieved for patients with a healthy lifestyle and an appropriate BMI.

What happens during thigh lift surgery?

Thigh lift surgery is a straightforward procedure for a surgeon as skilled as Anca Breahna.

Several surgical techniques can be used, but usually, Miss Breahna makes an incision in the groin crease to minimise scarring. She will remove excess skin and reshape the underlying tissues. The incision will then be closed using dissolvable stitches.

If a large quantity of excess skin is involved, making an incision along the inner thigh may be necessary.

Miss Breahna designs bespoke procedures for each patient and will discuss the best technique for you at your initial consultation.

The thigh lift procedure is performed using a general anaesthetic and usually lasts two to three hours.

The aftercare process after plastic surgery for the thigh

All patients stay in the hospital overnight after thigh lift surgery.

The next day Miss Breahna will visit you to assess your condition and you can go home once your wounds are checked.

It is advisable to wear a compressive dressing for a few weeks. This may not look glamorous, but it is essential to wear it as it will encourage healing, reduce scarring and give you the best results possible.

Miss Breahna follows the progress of her patients carefully. A follow-up appointment will be arranged during the first week after surgery, and you will return to the clinic for monitoring checkups regularly for the first year.

Of course, you can contact the clinic for advice if you have any concerns between appointments.

How long will it be before I can resume normal activities?

Miss Breahna advises her patients to take at least a week off work after thigh lifts to allow the body to recover.

Most normal activities, including driving, can be resumed after around a month. You should be recovered sufficiently to return to the gym after six weeks.

Are there any risks with thigh lift procedures?

All surgical procedures carry risk and a thigh lift is no exception.

Swelling, pain and bruising are all likely after any procedure. These usually resolve with time and your pain will be managed for you.

However, you can protect against the risk of serious complications by choosing a surgeon as talented and experienced as Anca Breahna.

How much does a thigh lift cost?

The total amount may vary according to the surgical procedure used and the cost of your procedure will be confirmed after your consultation with Miss Breahna.
