What is breast mammoplasty Cheshire?
Breast mammoplasty refers to surgical procedures that have the goal of reshaping or modifying the breast.
There are two types of mammoplasty, and Miss Breahna is a highly trusted and skilled cosmetic surgeon for both of these cosmetic surgery procedures:
Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation, or breast enlargement, is commonly performed to increase the size or shape of a woman’s breasts, or to alter their texture by increasing firmness.
Breast augmentation usually involves the use of breast implants which are surgically implanted in the breasts.
Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty)
Breast reduction is commonly performed to reduce the size or change the shape of the breasts. It involves the removal of breast tissue.

Why consider mammoplasty in Cheshire?
There are a number of reasons that women opt for breast procedures from aesthetic plastic surgeons like Miss Breahna in Cheshire. We will look at these more closely below.
Whatever your reason, having a female plastic surgeon can make women feel especially reassured that their surgeon understands the female anatomy inside out and cares for them in a compassionate, understanding manner.
Reasons to choose breast augmentation
Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement or a ‘boob job’, is one of the most commonly requested cosmetic procedures.
Some women have small or less shapely breasts genetically, and it may be something they’ve wished to alter for many years.
For other women, the size of their breasts may have reduced as a result of weight loss, or following pregnancy and breast feeding. Multiple pregnancies can have an increased impact on the shape and fullness of the breasts.
Ageing can also affect the size and shape of the breasts. Breast cancer may be another reason that women turn to breast augmentation.
All of these can leave a woman feeling self-conscious about her body shape and appearance, and have an impact on all-round self-esteem.
Reasons to choose breast reduction surgery
Overly large breasts can often be uncomfortable and cause neck pain, back and shoulder pain, poor posture and a rash under the breasts.
Women with oversized breasts can have trouble finding the right bras and may even abstain from high impact sports like running and highly active team sports.
So most women who choose to have breast reductions do so in order to achieve greater harmony in their body shape and decrease discomfort caused by large breasts. For many women, this leads to greater comfort in their own bodies and increased self confidence.
The plastic surgery operation removes excess tissue, relieving the discomfort of large, heavy breasts, whilst creating a more attractive shape and size.
What happens during mammoplasty surgery in Cheshire?
The mammoplasty surgery techniques are different depending on which procedure you choose.
Breast augmentation procedure
Before your surgery, you and Miss Breahna will establish your personal goals and agree on the type and approximate size of the implants.
On the day of the breast augmentation surgery in Cheshire, a range of photographs will be taken and Miss Breahna will draw on the breasts, marking the points of incision.
The incisions are generally made in one of three main places to ensure discrete scarring:
- In the creases beneath the breast (Inframammary)
- Around the areola (Periareolar)
- Or in the armpit (Transaxillary).
The breast implant is then inserted either between the breast tissue and the chest muscle, or under the chest muscle, followed by closing-up of the incisions and dressings being applied.
The breast reduction procedure
The breast reduction procedure removes excess breast fat and glandular tissue, relieving the discomfort of large, heavy breasts, whilst creating a more attractive shape and size.
Before breast reduction surgery, Miss Breahna will draw on the breasts to show where the incisions and nipple will be placed.
Incisions will generally be around the nipple and vertically from the nipple downwards to the crease below the breast.
The nipple will be supported by a stalk of breast tissue (the pedicle) while the operation is taking place, and repositioned upwards in accordance with the markings made on the breast.
Miss Breahna uses a supero-medial pedicle with either an ‘inverted T’ or a vertical scar technique, depending on the individual characteristics of the breast.
Recovery and aftercare
Both breast augmentation and breast reduction are performed using general anaesthetic. You can expect an overnight stay in hospital after the procedure.
For breast reduction surgery patients, you will need to wear a surgical supportive bra for up to 6 weeks, to support the healing process and reduce the discomfort from early mobilisation.
For breast augmentation patients, you will be given painkillers to take home upon being discharged from hospital. An appointment will be made for your first dressing, usually 7 – 10 days after surgery.
Recovery time after mammoplasty Cheshire
For breast enlargement patients, we will arrange follow up appointments at around 1 week, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months post surgery, closely monitoring your physical well-being.
Follow-up appointments for breast reduction patients at the clinic in Chester will be arranged at 1, 2 and 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year post surgery to closely monitor your physical well-being.
