Tummy Tuck Liverpool

tummy tuck Liverpool

A tummy tuck, also known by the full name of abdominoplasty, is a popular cosmetic procedure available through leading cosmetic surgeon Anca Breahna in Liverpool.

The tummy tuck has an obvious purpose – to remove excess skin and fat from the tummy region, mid and lower abdomen. The muscle will also be tightened in this process.

The result will be a flatter stomach, one that is leaner, more athletic and more attractive. In many instances, it will return the tummy to how it was – perhaps a few years ago, often to the flat stomach of pre pregnancy.

However, the benefits are often not just aesthetic, this is a popular procedure that can do so much for self esteem and confidence too. We all like to look our best and feel confident and so when we have issues that play on our mind this can impact work, relationships and all aspects of life.

This can be the truly wonderful change from a procedure such as abdominoplasty, seeing it have a profound change for the better on someone’s life.

In this page, we all outline key details relating to tummy tuck procedures in Liverpool and also provide a few words on Anca Breahna and why she stands apart amongst cosmetic surgeons in the north west.

What Is A Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck is simply a procedure to remove fat and skin from the region. It addresses a specific concern rather than being a cure or treatment for obesity – patients we see are typically in good overall health, but having annoying tummy fat that simply refuses to budge.

There are varying degrees of tummy tuck – though you as the prospective patient do not need to be an expert, instead this is discussed in an open and honest consultation.

The traditional tummy tuck is the most common, this is for the entire abdominal region and involves a significant degree of fat and skin removal, with the belly button also repositioned as required.

As the name implies, a partial, or mini tummy tuck is for when there is less skin and fat to be addressed, typically this is for when only the area below the naval needs some degree of surgery.

Finally, there is an extended abdominoplasty, this for when there is more skin and fat to be removed than in a traditional abdominoplasty. The hips and lower back may also be operated on, this leading to a significant improvement in a person’s figure.

A tummy tuck can also be performed in combination with other procedures, for instance breast augmentation with some fat grafted from the tummy tuck used to reshape the breasts.

This is quite common post pregnancy and childbirth and even has the name Mummy Makeover.

Suitability for a Tummy Tuck

Your suitability for a tummy tuck would be ascertained in a detailed consultation with your full medical history taken into consideration. Please rest assured that leading surgeons will only ever recommend any procedure which they deem to be truly in a patient’s best interests.

For a tummy tuck, you need to be in overall good health but have some excess skin and / or fat you wish removed. At consultation, we would discuss whether the results you seek are possible – ensuring that those who do have surgery end up loving the results.

The consultation is your chance to talk and for the surgeon to listen and then suggest a plan of best action.

A second consultation is then common, this to allow you time to consider whether surgery is truly for you and to think of any follow up questions.

Results From A Tummy Tuck

It is easy to see the benefits of tummy tuck surgery in the results – the issue of concern is gone, in place of a saggy tummy with a bit of excess skin and fat, there is a profile that is so much leaner.

The surgery will have a very visible and welcome impact on appearance, but will often also greatly boost self esteem and confidence too.

Results can be discussed in terms of percentage of fat removed, but often it is best to also see before and after images to see the impact this surgery has had for others. The results can be truly profound.

With a tummy tuck, the results are easy to predict, Anca Breahna can outline how much skin and fat will be removed and how you will look post surgery. There is no guess work, you know what the benefits will be.

Full results will not be visible until; around 12 weeks post surgery as the body recovers.

Post Surgery Recovery

Abdominoplasty is relatively major surgery and so there is inevitably a period of recovery required.

You would need to take things easy for a number of weeks and surgical garments will need to be worn, driving will also be prohibited for a while and obviously physical activities, especially strenuous ones such as sport are off limits initially.

You would have regular check up and follow-up appointments with your surgeon, in the case of Ms Breahna these would be at 1, 2 and six weeks and then 3 months, six months and one year post surgery.

You would also be provided with full details relating to recovery and any things that should be avoided or advice to follow.
